Kayla Swanson

Kayla Swanson, a proud Itasca County native, has built her career on a passion for showcasing and strengthening the many assets of Itasca County. After graduating from Greenway High School in 2013, she pursued her education at Itasca Community College, earning her Associate of Arts degree in 2015. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Business Administration at Viterbo University in La Crosse, WI. In 2018, Kayla returned to Coleraine with her husband, where she and her family have firmly established their roots.

Kayla began her career with the Itasca Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) in 2019 as a Marketing Specialist, quickly demonstrating her ability to elevate the organization’s visibility and impact. Her leadership and dedication earned her a promotion to Operations & Outreach Manager in 2022. Today, she serves as Finance & Operations Manager, where she oversees the organization’s finances and daily operations while continuing to lend her expertise to marketing and communications. Her strengths include organizational management, financial oversight, strategic marketing, and relationship building—all driven by her commitment to collaboration and excellence.

In addition to her leadership role at IEDC, Kayla is also the Head Women’s Softball Coach at Minnesota North College – Itasca Campus, where she brings her passion for the game full circle by mentoring and developing the next generation of student-athletes.

Outside of her professional commitments, Kayla enjoys golfing, fishing, hunting, and exploring Minnesota’s craft breweries and cideries. She also treasures quality time with her husband, Jace, their son, Blake, their daughter, Elsie and a supportive circle of family and friends. Whether driving economic development, leading a collegiate sports program, or contributing to her community, Kayla is recognized as a dynamic leader whose professionalism, dedication, and energy set her apart.
