"A solution to the workforce shortage is already proving successful in Itasca County.

It’s a marketing a campaign called Thrive Up North. “It really came out of what everyone has been talking about nationwide. How do we recruit people to come and work in our area. What is it about our area that attract people to it,” shared Tamara Lowney, the president of the Itasca Economic Development Corporation.

Videos showcasing families and why they love it here are now on the website, and are being marketed to people outside of the area.

They’ve also launched an incentive package, which includes $2000 cash and other benefits.

A $20,000 grant from Iron Range Resources helped support the project. The IEDC and other public and private partnerships are making this all possible.

“We started out with a pilot program late last summer. We had more than 20 applicants. And we awarded 14 prizes. They’re joining a network of people who make connections up here,” Lowney added."
