I grew up in the Minnesota Resort Industry and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Hospitality Management. My grandfather, Alex Ruttger, was a pioneer in the industry with the development of Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge located just east of Brainerd. My wife Gwynne and I purchased the former Sugar Lake Lodge location in 1992 and brought the Ruttger Resort concept to Grand Rapids in 1994. This has been our home for the past 15 years and we have graduated 3 children from district 318.
